SeaAhead project will enhance the maritime sector by proactively addressing both current and future challenges, with a commitment to high quality standards, excellence, and inclusiveness. The project will create Centers of Vocational Excellence that bring together Knowledge Triangle experts to develop an ecosystem that enhances the skills, efficiency and innovative capacity of maritime professionals and organizations, ensuring the industry’s future-proof growth, sustainability and competitiveness in the global arena.
The Specific Objectives of the SeaAhead Project are:
SO1 Refine maritime curricula to include emerging trends and market needs
SO2 Increase skills anticipation in the maritime sector and bridge the gaps, through upskilling and reskilling of maritime professionals.
SO3 Strengthen the sector’s resilience against geopolitical, environmental, and market fluctuations
SO4 Adopt and mainstream advanced AR/VR technologies in maritime training
SO5 Foster an innovation-driven culture within the maritime sector by establishing incubators and partnerships that facilitate technological advancements and new business solutions
SO6 Develop and implement comprehensive diversity and inclusion strategies that specifically target the recruitment and retention of women and migrant workers in the maritime sector
SO7 Strengthen the digital infrastructures and cybersecurity protocols of maritime operations
SO8 Promote international partnerships that facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices
SO9 Establish a supportive ecosystem that nurtures maritime entrepreneurship
SO10 Foster collaborative skills partnerships and improve stakeholder engagement in the maritime sector to achieve long-term and systemic impact.
SeaAhead project will result in:
SeaAhead is accompanied by a well-structured Work-Plan, that consists by 5 Working Packages and 29 Tasks, leading to a total of 13 deliverables. While WP1, incorporates Project management and quality assurance to ensure a smooth and high-quality project implementation process, WP2 includes the capacity building activities of MET-NET and the establishment of Regional Maritime Skills. The CoVE Design Phase is included in WP3, where the function of a Maritime CoVE is being described, including financial modelling, the Trainings and Labs are being set-up, and the Innovation Hub and Internationalization practices are developed. The pilot testing phase is being implemented with WP4, where the partnering educational providers begin their CoVE transformation process and the outputs of WP3 are being tested and validated, leading to a transferable holistic approach with tools and processes that will allow more providers to increase their efficiency and become new CoVEs. Finally, Project capitalization, dissemination and exploitation activities are part of WP5, where we envisage to make the project known and create a high value sustainable impact.
