The DigiGEAR project aims to introduce augmented reality (AR) technologies into the VET sector, with a focus on the Automotive Engineering industries and particular attention paid to the industry gaps and the emerging skills of the sector. Through that, aspires to provide an innovative and engaging learning experience, while addressing the skills gap and digital transformation needs of industries.
Project objectives have been defined as follows:
O1: Contribute to the innovation in VET sector
O2: Deliver engaging interactive learning materials, such as 3D Models and AR scenarios, that can be used to teach technical skills
O3: Improve the effectiveness of VET by offering learners the opportunity to gain practical experience in a safe and controlled environment while enhancing the quality of learning experience
O4: Raise awareness about the benefits of VET and promote the use of AR technologies in education and training while encountering shared needs
O5: Create a solid network of VET providers and industry partners to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration in the field of AR for VET promoting organizations’ capacity to work internationally and across sectors, facilitating transformation at differentiated levels
O6: Evaluate the effectiveness of AR technologies and improving employability in the sector while turning them accessible for every student
O7: Provide students with more interesting and interactive learning experience that develops digital skills, which are essential in today’s job market, giving the adaptability to each learner’ needs
O8: Enhance appeal of VET, by collaborating closely with enterprises, VET providers and industry stakeholders throughout the various stages of the project cycle, so that the impact and dissemination of the concrete results can be maximized
O9: Enhance the digital preparedness and quality of results by giving the ability to VET providers and students to continuously extract strengths and weaknesses during the Pilot
The following results are expected:
Project activities have been gathered into 5 project Work packages:
WP1: Project Management covering financial, communication, quality assurance processes and porcedures as well as evaluation
WP2: Dissemination and Exploitation of results
WP3: Preparation phase for the Identification of the emerging skills of the Automotive Engineering sector and the latest AR technologies including sector-specific research
WP4: Development phase of the DigiGEAR Training Package and AR environment covering training and materials development
WP5: Implementation and refinement of the DigiGEAR training
